QuickVPS – £2 96MB Xen VPS in UK
Lucie from QuickVPS wrote to me over the weekend about their current specials on their Xen-based virtual servers in UK. For £2/month (USD$3. 14/month) you can get the following “Limited Edition” package:
- 96MB memory/96MB swap
- 6GB storage
- 75GB/month data transfer
- Xen/SolusVM
I guess it is rightful to call it the limited edition as the resource is indeed a bit, hmm, limited. However 96MB can still do wonders depending on what you are trying to achieve. You are also getting Xen rather than OpenVZ that’s more common at this ~$3/month price range. There has not been much discussions on their offers in the past though. There are speed test files and IPs on our website. Your connection will be on a shared 100Mbit uplink and will not be throttled.
Nodes are typically Q8300 processors with 8GB RAM and 1TB RAID10 disk space. We only use brand name hardware.
Nodes are in Sota Com in the Kent Science Park, UK.
Approximately 20 containers to a node.

Tested the speed.
Top test is from one of their US servers and the bottom test is from a UK node. Both tests taken from my German VPS. (Hetzner, DE)

Would be interesting to see what download speeds are like from this service. What the specifications of the node are, node location and how many containers they have to a node.
